MSB BROOKLYN SOFTBALL LEAGUE IS GENERATING BUZZ IN THE COMMUNITY

It is the dawn of a new day for one of the longest running leagues in community history.

The Brooklyn Softball League was established in 1979 by visionaries Jackie Esses and David Hidary. The league waslater commissioned by community legends such as David A. Cohen, Joe Gindi, Joey Tawil, Morris “Truck” Dweck, Eddie Elbaz, Ike Mavorah, Sammy Esses, and David “Wamma” Shamma.

However, this off-season the torch has been passed to long time
co-commissionerof the M&S Summer Night League, Sam J. Sutton. Having Sam at the helm is exactly what the BKS (now branded M&S Brooklyn, or MSB) needed. Whether it be the level of talent that he’s constantly recruiting to join the league, or the media buzz he brings to the table, the league hasn’t been in such a good place in nearly a decade.

New Season Packed with Improvements

If MSB is anything like the M&S product softball fans have all come to love, this league is primed to make waves across the Syrian softball landscape. Registration inquiries have been pouring in since December.

Weather permitting, the much anticipated 2019 season will kick-off March 31st. MSB will have weekly highlight reels. Complete games will be recorded, unedited, and available to view. MSB will offer fans talk shows, player interviews, and of course, a comprehensive website that has decades’ worth of history. MSB will be also be unveiling the new MSB CUP, which will have the rosters of every championship team engraved on it, documenting its 40-year history.

As a constant way to try and improve, this season a grounds crew team has been retained to ensure that each field used will be finely manicured for great playing conditions, alongside a two-man umpiring crew each game, along with new statisticians. A new beverage company will also be available on the sidelines with snacks and beverages for purchase.

Great Talent Bodes Well for the Future

Veterans Ray Esses, David Harari, Jack Harari, David Catton, the Richter brothers, and Michael “Melech” Solomon, are just some of the headliners in a league oozing with talent. The amount of new top-end talent that has been recruited away from other leagues makes this year’s draft preparation as imperative as ever before. It is predicted that the 2019 draft will be one of the most intriguing drafts in quite some time. The draft is currently scheduled for March 10that the home of one of the icons of the league, Steven J Gindi. Registration will remain open up until draft date.

The future is bright. It’s justa few months into this new regime and the league already has a brand-new feel. And before you know it, MSB will restore the glory days of Brooklyn softball!
