Prayers of the Pure, a magnificent new Sefer Tehillim has been the buzz of our community for the last month Which was sponsored by the Doueck family in loving memory of Mrs. Rae Doueck A”H. It is a large Sefer, about 81\2 x 11 inches, with a beautiful blue and gold leatherette cover. Embossed into the cover, is a lovely design of a harp and crown with Jerusalem in the background. As you open the book you will find large letters on a soft cream type paper, which makes it easier on the eyes. This tehillim book was distributed to all of our pillar community schools in Brooklyn and Deal, including Magen David Yeshivah, Yeshivah of Flatbush, Yeshivat Shaare Torah, Yeshivat Ateret Torah, Gesher Yehuda, YDE, Yeshivat Lev Torah, Barkai Yeshivah, Ohel Torah, Hillel Yeshiva, Bet Yaakov of the Jersey Shore, and Yeshivat Keter Torah. 2500 copies were printed and presented as gifts to the children in grades 1 thru 3.

The concept of this community project is to have our children pray for the safety and success of our community. With so many tragedies occurring too often, it is time for us to do something great, something that can make a change. This tehillim book is dedicated in memory of children who were taken from our community at a young age. It seems appropriate that our pure young children raise their voices to Hashem on our behalf. Imagine thousands of our children between Brooklyn and Deal, all praying from the same sefer, pleading to Hashem to protect us. The children know they are part of something that goes beyond just their classroom. They know that 2500 children their age are praying together with them. It’s called being part of a team. It is awe inspiring, this is the “great” that can make a change.

“There is a Pasuk that says….. Tefillot shel tinokot shel bet raban… It is written that the most precious of all prayers are the prayers of our children. What a better way to unite the community than with the prayers of the pure souls of our children. We have been pleasantly surprised by the demand of the Sefer. Unfortunately, there was not enough for all grades in our community schools, buy hopefully a second edition will fulfill the needs of all grades, ” said A.J. Gindi coordinator of the sefer.

The co-coordinator on the project, Mrs Dorit Botton expressed the following feelings about the sefer.  “Some projects you work on, and some projects work on you. Working on this book has truly been one of the greatest accomplishments of my life .

I found that the more heart I put into this project, the more I loved and believed in it.

When I was first approached with this idea of making a tehillim book  for the children, I had no idea that it would one day unite our community.  Now, When I see the young faces of our children shine as they are given their new

Sefer Tehillim,  I am just overwhelmed with emotion.   I feel so privileged to have been given this opportunity, and I thank Hashem for ensuring its success.

The way all the Rabbis of our schools in Brooklyn and Deal have embraced this project with open arms, and have incorporated the use of this Tehillim Book into their curriculum, is the essence of what we try every day to accomplish. In their quiet ways, it is very clear that they teach by example.  The action of their acceptance is what SOLIDIFIES our UNITY.  We are ONE PEOPLE, ONE COMMUNITY.

I would like to thank the pure children of our community, for all their precious prayers for which we sincerely depend on.

A special thank you to all our supporters who have been my inspiration throughout this whole process.  It is only through your constant belief, support and dedication to this community project, that I can begin my work on the second edition “PRAYERS OF THE PURE II”.
