This dessert is as appealing to the eye as it is to palate. It’s easy too. The bottom layer is made using a fantastic brownie recipe (you’ll want to use it for plain brownies too). The second layer is a rich chocolate mousse. And topping it all off is a layer of whipped cream for the final touch!

Black Brownie

Ingredients:

  • 4 eggs
  • 2/3 cup cocoa
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cup oil
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup flour

Directions:

  1. Combine the eggs, sugar and oil and mix thoroughly.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix.
  3. Pour into a 9×13 pan and bake for 35 minutes on 350 degrees.
  4. Allow to cool

Note: You can use this recipe for plain brownies and top with crushed walnuts.

Heavenly Mousse

Ingredients:

  • 6 eggs
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 6 oz. chocolate
  • A splash of wine

Directions:

  1. Separate the egg yolks and beat the whites until they peak.
  2. Melt the chocolate on a double boiler.
  3. Add to the yolks the sugar, melted chocolate and a splash of wine.
  4. Pour the mousse mixture on top of the cooled brownie and freeze.

Putting it all Together

Ingredients:

  • 16 oz of whipped cream

Directions:

  1. Whip up the whipped cream and spread over the top of the frozen mousse mixture.
  2. Refreeze the mixture.
  3. Defrost slightly before serving.

Note: The mousse can be made without the brownie bottom. Add crushed cookies to the mouse mixture. Make one layer mousse, one layer cream, then again one layer mousse and one layer of cream.
